How Often Should You Train As A Boxer?

How many times a week should you be training?
We get this question all the time, and although the answer depends on your personal goals and fitness background, there are a few things to keep in mind when setting your weekly training schedule!
If you’re new to boxing, training twice a week is generally considered the minimum to start seeing some results! Training twice weekly keeps the skills and techniques you’ve learned fresh in your memory and gives you the chance to sharpen them up and put them into practice!
For those who really want to see progress, you’ll want to be training a minimum of 3 to 5 times per week! In addition to learning more advanced techniques, offensive & defensive manoeuvres, strategy, opponent analysis and counter-attacking, your conditioning, strength, reflexes and agility will improve immensely.
That being said - listen to your body! Progress and improvement happen gradually, and here at Basic Reflex we take the time to break down techniques, explain the mechanics and ensure that our students are training smartly and safely.
So start off with what you feel comfortable with and ask your trainer for some advice! Once you get in the groove and start understanding your body better (your strengths, areas for improvement, nutrition needs, recovery strategies) you’ll start seeing results in no time!
